On October 9, 2004, Beastie Boys sold out New York’s Madison Square Garden. Fifty cameras were distributed to be used by audience members during that performance. After collecting different perspectives on the live concert, a Movie consisting of compilations of the different footage was released. Beastie Boys hosted a screening at the Sundance Festival for the fan-filmed concert movie, Awesome; I Fuckin’ Shot That. The screening debuted on January 21, 2006. The event was one of four showcases over a two week span and was intended for fans who took part in filming the movie. The official movie release date was March 31, 2006.
